![]() The third and final week put everything to the test in a Field Training Exercise – an opportunity for battlefield commanders to hone their tactics and strategies across the mountains while each commando has been able sharpen their own individual understanding of operating in this unforgiving environment. Surveillance and reconnaissance training also formed an integral part of Green Claymore. The nature of the ground sometimes presents obstacles, such as river crossings and cliff faces, and the Mountain Leaders have been demonstrating how to tackle these. Skills and tactics in mountain warfare differ from those in other environments and need to be practised to achieve success in mountain operations. Interspersed with the daily marches, briefs were delivered on topics such as long range communications equipment, kit preparation and mountain tactics.įor the majority of ranks who have progressed on to the advanced course, weapons and ammunition scales have been added to the already-heavy loads as the commandos have been building an appreciation for what it means to act as small teams in the challenging mountainous environment. The first week, which forms the basic course, started with a chance to refresh navigation skills whilst increasing duration and elevation of routes, with increasing weight to bear. The progression from the basic course through to the final training exercise is rightly steep to ensure that 3 Commando Brigade can employ resilient personnel to the Arctic.” “It’s an inescapable fact that this means hardening individuals through arduous training this is exactly what mountain training offers. The US Army’s 1-10th Special Forces Group (Operational Detachment Alpha) or ‘Green Berets’ joined the commandos – who wear their own coveted green beret to signify completion of the gruelling All Arms Commando Course at Commando Training Centre in Lympstone – as they prepare to deploy to the Arctic together.Ī rigorous mountain warfare training programme saw commandos train day and night and through all weather conditions (mostly rain) under the watchful eye of the Mountain Leader Cadre, the Royal Marines who specialise in mountain and Arctic warfare.Ĭolour Sergeant Taylor, 45 Commando’s Mountain Leader 1, said: “To be able to survive in and fight in some of the most inhospitable conditions, commandos fundamentally have to sustain a higher level of resilience. The training was also a meeting of green berets. The Arbroath-based commandos are readying for three months in northern Norway starting next month but have first tested their mettle across the cold and wet Highland peaks.īased out of Cameron Barracks, Inverness, 45 Commando’s fighting companies and their comrades from Commando Logistics Regiment and the Royal Artillery’s 29 Commando 7 (Sphinx) Battery have been participating in Exercise Green Claymore. ![]() Royal Marines of 45 Commando have stepped up their preparations for the Arctic wilds with a foray into their traditional playground of the Northwest Highlands. ![]() (We use oAuth)Ĥ).Go to 'Photo' tab, click on 'Associate Apple Photos' button.ĥ).Go to Apple Photos location and select/click on the icon of Apple Photos.Ħ).Check the checkbox corresponds to Dropbox. I'm from PicBackMan team, we have our product named 'PicBackMan' ( which will allow you to upload your Apple Photos or iPhoto library to Dropbox.ġ.Download & install PicBackMan into your Mac.Ģ).Once registration done, go to 'Account' tab of the application.ģ).Connect your Dropbox account. It sounds harder than it is, and once you get it working it runs itself. Make sure you have My Photo Stream enabled on all of your devices, or they will not sync between themselves and you may lose photos because Apple only keeps them for 30 days. ![]() ![]() It is my opinion that you should only have one photo library on your machine unless you know what you are doing.ģ. Before you backup your Photos Library to Dropbox import all of your photos into Photos and delete the old iPhoto Library (ANOTHER REASON IT IS CRITICAL TO HAVE A TESTED BACKUP!). All your other Dropbox folders will sync normally.Ģ. This way none of your other devices will sync your Photos Library. Make sure you only backup your Photos Library to Dropbox from ONE DEVICE! In Dropbox go to Dropbox>Preferences>Import and turn off (uncheck) the box next to enable camera uploads, AND then go to Dropbox>Preferences>Account>Selective Sync on all of your other devices and uncheck the Photos Library folder. There are three essential things to do for this to function properly:ġ. This safety precaution is critical and will keep you from losing any of your photos if something does not work correctly. The backup should be on a separate drive that you can disconnect from your computer and any device that syncs with Dropbox. Samantha, please do not attempt to do this without at least one clean and tested backup of all your photos. For me, this works perfectly, and it took a long time to find the solution, so I hope it helps someone else. Once those pictures are in My Photo Stream, I can do whatever I want and choose which photos I want to keep on my laptop and iPhone while still syncing everything to my desktop and Dropbox. But with My Photo Stream, every device I have connected to my iCloud account gets every new picture I take. I only sync my Dropbox photo library with one Mac and NOT ON ANY OTHER MAC. Putting my photo library on Dropbox allows me to access it from any machine anywhere in the world if I ever need to. Why not just leave the library on my desktop Mac?īecause then I can only access it from my desktop Mac. My Photo Stream shares any photo I take on any of my devices with every other one of my devices - this is why I can live with having only one of my machines sync to my Dropbox photo library. Why I like using Photos for managing my photos: Plus I do not want to pay for additional iCloud storage when I already have 1TB that I pay for with Dropbox. Even if you optimize the photos to save storage, this can become a problem with lots of pictures and only 8GB of storage on your iPhone. Every picture you have in iCloud Photo Library must be on every device. Why I do not like using iCloud Photo Library (even though I love Apple usually): You could throw an iPad into the mix without any trouble. I use one main desktop, one laptop, and an iPhone. Managing photos is a difficult process no matter what solution you find, but there may be other people that have a similar situation to mine.
